Heart and the environment
At Heart Kitchen and Bath sustainability, efficiency and conservation are extremely important fundamental principles that we strive to work into our designs and day-to-day operations.
Naturally, if you are considering a new kitchen (be it a renovation or a new home), there is no getting around the fact that you will be consuming natural resources in order to have it built, shipped, and installed. However, though proper specification we are able to use various sustainably sourced woods, particle board (which is constructed from sawdust and particulate) produced without urea or formaldehyde, finishing processes void of the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), countertop materials made using significant recycled content, etc.
There are many green products available in today's market. Obviously this is because there is a growing market for environmentally friendly products. However, printing a label in green doesn't necessarily make a product environmentally friendly. We will work with you in order to avoid 'greenwashing' and to make decisions that will result in the biggest 'bang for the buck' in regards to reducing your environmental footprint.
Heart Kitchen and Bath is proud to share the some of the things we do in order to reduce our environmental footprint.
Our physical space contains
- Two independent high efficiency furnaces allowing us to heat only the space required when the building is unoccupied. Both are also equipped with free air cooling, allowing us to cool the building without necessitating the use of air conditioning.
- New lowE argon filled windows reduce our heating and cooling further by reducing our heating costs in the winter and our cooling costs in the summer
- All of our exterior lighting is LED based, giving us the best energy efficiency possible, and nearly eliminating the need for replacement bulbs.
- High efficiency fluorescent lighting in all office space.
Our operations include
- The standard use of paper made from 100% post-consumer content
- The standard use of biodegradable soaps and garbage bags
- A comprehensive in-house recycling program
- Recycling of the vast majority of packaging materials (cardboard and plastic) used in the shipment of cabinetry.
- The implementation of certain paperless office solutions.
